Spring Forward, Fail Back: A Sunny, Funny Cabaret
Friday, May 22 @ 9 PM and Saturday, May 23 @ 9:30 PM
Uncommon Ground on Clark

The Brown Paper Box Co. is thrilled to announce their next cabaret series, Spring Forward, Fail Back: A Sunny, Funny Cabaret. This show will feature songs and stories about all things spring: the flings, the foibles, and all of the shenanigans that accompany the rising temperatures of the season.

Expect to hear songs by a range of pop and musical theatre greats including Gershwin, Lerner & Lowe, Tom Lehrer, Jamie Cullum, Jason Robert Brown, Jonathan Coulton, and more! This cabaret will feature the talents of former Brown Paper Box Co. cast and company members. It will also include performances by The Moxie Sisters, a comedic musical trio that transforms iconic 90s jams into swingin’ 40s tunes.

Cover is $12. Seating is limited. Reservations can be made with Uncommon Ground (773-929-3680). Additional information can be found at www.brownpaperbox.org.

The cast includes T.J. Anderson*, Katie Colby*, Justin Harner*, Michelle Kritselis*, Paul G. Miller, M. William Panek*, Pavi Proczko, Jason Richards, Stephanie Rohr*, Jenna Schoppe, Anna Schutz*, Matt Sergot*, Nick Shoda*, and Liz Ward. The evening will be hosted by Stephanie Rohr, with Justin Harner on piano and Brian Thibault on guitar.

Swingin' with the Moxie Sisters!

Anyone who attended our November cabaret will remember The Moxie Sisters, a sassy trio of ladies who inject '90s girl rock with '40s Andrews Sisters style. The group includes BPB Artistic Associates Stephanie Rohr (vocals), T.J. Anderson (trumpet), and Justin Harner (piano). Their rendition of "You Oughta Know" positively slayed our audiences last time, so it was a natural choice to feature them again in our upcoming cabaret! This video offers a sneak peek at one of the songs they'll be performing...give it a listen and then come hear 'em in person at Uncommon Ground next Friday and Saturday night!

The Brown Paper Box Co. is excited to announce the cast for the Chicago storefront premiere of [title of show], with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and book by Hunter Bell. The show will run from July 17 through August 16, 2015 at Rivendell Theatre in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood (5779 N. Ridge Ave.). Press performances are Sunday, July 19 at 2 P.M. and Monday, July 20 at 7:30 P.M. Ticketing information and more will be posted at www.brownpaperbox.org/cast--crew.html.

Struggling writers Jeff and Hunter are working on an original musical with a unique topic: their experience writing an original musical! With friends Susan, Heidi, and accompanist Larry, they embark on a meta-journey of self-expression, documenting all the roadblocks and creative breakthroughs they encounter along the way. Nominated for the 2009 Best Book Tony Award, [title of show] is an irreverent, hilarious, and inspiring celebration of musical theatre and the joy of collaboration.

The cast includes Neala Barron [A Funny Thing Happened…, Porchlight Music Theatre; The Full Monty, Kokandy Productions; Titanic, Griffin Theatre Company] as Susan, Matt Frye [Henry V, Chicago Shakespeare Theater; The Full Monty, Kokandy Productions; Ripper, Chicago College of Performing Arts] as Hunter, Yando Lopez [Sondheim on Sondheim, Porchlight Music Theatre; In the Heights, Paramount Theatre; One Hit Wonders, Black Ensemble Theater] as Jeff, and Anna Schutz* [A New Brain, Aloha, Say the Pretty Girls, and Reefer Madness! The Brown Paper Box Co.] as Heidi. Chad Michael Innis and Stephanie Rohr* round out the cast as the male and female swings. Justin Harner* [Spike Heels, A New Brain, and Aloha Say the Pretty Girls, The Brown Paper Box Co.] will play Larry, the accompanist.

The production team includes T.J. Anderson* [musical director], Justin Harner* [assistant musical director], Sara Heymann [set/properties designer], Michael Montgomery [stage manager], M. William Panek* [director], Matt Sergot* [box office manager], Charlie Sheets* [graphic designer], Daniel Spagnuolo* [casting associate], Eric Vigo [lighting designer], Courtney Watters [costume coordinator], and Damian Wille [production manager].
