On December 1, 2015, we will begin accepting Director Proposal submissions for the second time. Last go around, we had over 50 proposals from well over 30 directors. After narrowing the proposals down to 4 finalists, we finally landed on Lavina Jadhwani and her proposal for Julius Caesar (which you can check out in March 2016). We read so many thoughtful and creative proposals and were able to meet a handful of very talented Chicago directors through this process that we cannot wait to see what this round will bring.
For many very good reasons, most companies choose their seasons to match their mission and goals and then look for a director. However, we have always worked with the director first, starting with a story that they're connected to telling. If the story can be told through our aesthetic and we feel it is an important story to share with our community, then we have a match.
As a non-Equity storefront theatre, we value giving opportunities to artists who are getting started in Chicago. What better way to showcase your talent then by directing a show that YOU want to do?
