Get to know the cast & staff behind the Brown Paper Box Co.'s Chicago storefront premiere of Hunter Bell & Jeff Bowen's Tony-nominated [title of show].
Full Name: Matt Frye
Where you were born/where you were raised? Born in Anchorage Alaska. Raised in Ferndale, Washington
Your role within the [title of show] family: Hunter!
How would you describe your character? Hunter is the book writer. He is a procrastibator. His problem is just getting started. Once he gets started and remembers how good it feels to really write, he's all business. Sometimes being ABH (All Business Hunter) means bumping heads with the other cast members. But I mean, hey, that's what you get for being passionate.
If 5 words, how do you describe [title of show]? This show fucking rocks ... WORD!!!
Favorite musical? I seriously can't do favorites. Here's a few: Into the Woods, West Side, Burnt Part Boys, Sunday In the Park... I guess something by Sondheim.
Favorite show tune? Ugh..I can't even begin. At the moment "What Do I Need With Love."
First musical you remember seeing? A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Go-to audition number? "Proud Lady" Baker's Wife
Your personal idols? Russel Wilson, Brian D'Arcy James, my Mom and Dad.
Who would play you in the Broadway musical of your life? Chris Pratt. Voice ALWAYS dubbed by either Gavin Creel or Brian D'Arcy James depending on the direction we want to go.
Who would write the score? Miller and Tysen. They're so hot right now.
Something you're REALLY bad at? Tap dancing, golfing, and my handwriting is like ... atrocious.
Most played song on your iPod? Either the entire Burnt Part Boys album or "Who I'd Be" from Shrek.
Three things you can't live without? Coffee, booze, theater. What more could you need?
"I'll never understand why..." I ended up here. But, I'm here now and I wouldn't change a thing.
