Brown Paper Box Co. was founded in 2010 by four Chicago-based theatre artists whose love of engaging, innovative - yet simple - theatre inspired us to start our own company.

We set clear expectations of ourselves and our collaborators using honest, open communication and follow through on our commitments. We own up to our mistakes and treat them as an opportunities for improvement. We produce high quality shows while remaining fiscally responsible.
All artists involved with our mainstage productions are compensated for their time. We actively solicit feedback from our artists to improve the company. We select all potential directors and shows through a formal proposal process, reviewing all company member's input.
We believe theatre is a communal art form that brings individuals, businesses, and neighborhoods together.
We credit all donations and assistance publicly and enthusiastically. We offer industry rates for every performance of our main productions. We actively engage with our local and global community through social media, staying updated with previous collaborators, and supporting their future work.
We are committed to the physical, emotional, and mental safety of our artists, staff & volunteers.
