Get To Know ‘Mimi’: Denise Tamburrino

brown Lần cập nhật cuối: 11/02/2014

Full name?  Denise Tamburrino Evert. Tamburrino is my maiden name and I use it as my stage name.

Where you were born/where you were raised?  I was born in Chicago and raised in Norridge, Illinois.

Your position/role within the A NEW BRAIN family? Mimi Schwinn

How would you describe your character?
Mimi is a pretty typical mother. She loves her son, and even though she often puts on a happy face for others, she feels things deeply and she worries. She has known great heartache and loss in her life, but she carries on, as mothers do.

In 5 words, how do you describe A NEW BRAIN?  He has so many songs…

Fill in the blanks: ___melody___ + ___rhythm___ = a song. (I never excelled in composition class.)

What was your must-see TV show as a kid?  Hart to Hart. I wanted to be Jennifer Hart with all that glamour and big hair and fancy clothes, solving mysteries with my debonair husband and our wise-cracking, heart-of-gold butler.  Their bedroom had double doors and they had a phone…IN THE CAR!!! What could possibly be greater than that?!

If you could be best friends with any cartoon character in the real world, who would it be?  Snoopy. He would sit quietly and listen to all my problems and then he would lick my face.  Not unlike my husband, actually…

Special hidden talent?  Suffice it to say, it involves fruit.

Something you’re REALLY bad at?  Any sport that involves small balls coming at me at high speed.

Favorite Chicago neighborhood?  Lincoln Park

Three things you can’t live without?  Matt. Music. Merlot.

“I’ll never understand why… some people think that rules don’t apply to them.”

Come see Denise in William Finn and James Lapine’s A NEW BRAIN February 21 – March 9, 2014 at Rivendell Theatre. Ticketing and performance information can be found at The Brown Paper Box Co.’s site.
